AUSSIE MADE MEN'S THERMAL TOP THAT'S MADE FOR FROSTY AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND CONDITIONS.

SIZE CHART

These thermal bottoms are seconds quality. There may be a slight imperfection in the sewing but this will not impact on your ability to wear and enjoy the product. They are unbagged and unpressed, so may look a little disheveled on arrival. Strictly no change-of-mind or size returns on these

Our new Men's Merino Thermal Top is made from a stretchy Australian merino and elastane blend. Weighing in at 200gsm, this thermal t-shirt is designed to be your go-to base layer whether you're hiking the Overland Track in early spring or skiing Perisher in July.

Ethically made in Australia, this merino wool thermal top sports raglan sleeves so you don't end up with seam stacking and getting that annoying rubby-rubby sensation on your shoulders. Made from a 200gsm Australian merino and elastane blend, like with our lightweight long sleeve merino tees we have built in a big of extra length for easy tucking and full back (and front) coverage. No more cold lower back or bum crack!

Paired with our unisex merino thermal bottoms, this merino thermal top will become your go-to when kitting up for most weather conditions you're likely to find in the Australia and New Zealand backcountry.

Amazing tops!

Love these tops! Bought one in black and loved it so much I bought another in green and got my partner to buy one too. We’re walking 3000km across NZ & so needed something that’ll dry quick and is resistant to pong. I wear these several days in a row and they stay so fresh! The green one I can even wear under a blazer for work - they’re so versatile!

Excellent

Very good fit and for the first week I have worn the top & pants with socks and it got down to -5.
So very good.

Comfortable and warm.

I do like these long sleeve Merino tees. Good for walking, but also for everyday use in winter. Just bought a second one. Wash well, don’t smell...

Comfortable or not

Very warm as a thermal underwear close to the body skin.
Does posses the true smell of pure wool, so the spec written on the product tag is correct.
But the size list on the ad. might need to be checked and modified to fit the exact clothes size. If I have followed the list list, it should be S, but I actually need M size which I eventually bought. Otherwise, I would be too tight for me to breathe.

Not the greatest of fits!

I own some Ottie merino tees and they are perfect, highly recommended, unfortunately the thermals aren’t!
The fit is tight, even for a thermal layer, the neck is loose and low and the fabric is somewhat scratchy (maybe this will soften with washing).
I’m not entirely surprised they are being discontinued.

Great to see Oz made - would pay more for a finer wool

Merino Thermals FAQs

In thermals, you need stretch. This is so they sit nice and close to the skin and provide the best insulative qualities. Pure merino is stretchy but not quite enough. Our Australian merino/elastane blend gives you softness, stretchiness, as well as all the benefits of merino.

Why not?

You don't know you're missing a pocket until you need one. You're at Clinton Hut on the Milford Track or at a campsite on the Larapinta Track. Just in your thermal clobber—we hikers/trampers are all about high-fashion, after all—and you've nowhere to pop your headlamp or phone or pack of matches. Nice for warming the hands too.

Same as with t-shirts. 30 days. No fuss. We're happy to do size and change of mind exchanges or credits or refunds. They just need to come back to us in pristine, resellable condition. Email support@ottie.com.au before returning any items though so we can walk you through the process.

Oh, and with the bottoms, make sure you try them on with your undies on.

If you place an order now and choose to cancel the order before the thermals arrive that's perfectly fine. A credit or exchange or full refund is available - your choice.

Ah, the logistics of manufacturing clothing.

The charcoal marle these will be produced in are a 'custom colour' with our manufacturer. We sampled in black as we developed the product. So we had to get a bit creative in Photoshop for the initial product photos, just until we get out batch of photography samples and we do a full photoshoot. Hopefully in Kosciuszko National Park which'll be a stunning backdrop!

Around 35gsm in weight for a start. Our lightweight 100% merino tee is 165gsm and our thermals are 200gsm. Perfect for cooler conditions. And, our thermals are a merino/elastane blend, which lends itself a bit better to 'baselayer' wear.
